Sergeant Howard E. Fuller was awarded the Silver Star “for gallantry in action” on 7 December 1941. At the height of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Sergeant Fuller braved strafing by low flying Japanese planes to drive a wounded soldier to the hospital. He returned to help another wounded sailor receive medical care. In addition to World War II, he fought in Korea and Vietnam. The Silver Star, Army Commendation, and Good Conduct Medals are official government engraved replacements.
