Corporal Roy W. Gast was wounded in action on May 29, 1918, by gas in France. Corp. Gast arrived in France on April 1, 1918, and fought at the Aisne-Marne and Meuse-Argonne engagements during the war. He arrived back in the United States on May 6, 1919, and was discharged from the Army on June 13, 1919, from U.S. General Hospital #24, Parkview Branch in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Gast recieved his Purple Heart on April, 27 1938.

Corp. Gast passed away on July 31, 1963, at the age of 68 and is buried in Pinecrest Cemetery in Sebring, Florida.
